F-1 Discovering the Joy in Math — Roy Underhill — Enrich your life and your understanding of math and prevent or overcome the "I hate math" mentality by exploring ways math is as interesting, varied, and beautiful as art, music, and literature. Resources and activities that focus on the joy and beauty of math and delightful mathematicians, including books, games, and other activities for all ages, covering topics from basic computation to current research.

F-2 Bake Spectacular Breads — Scott Lynch — It's simple to bake spectacular bread at home. Gather a few tools. Learn the necessary techniques. Use Scott's "master formulas" for a crusty Artisan bread and a sandwich — style loaf. Follow his suggestions for how to play with the recipes to tune them to your preferences. Explore ways to make outstanding pizza.

F-3 Learning to Speak in Public — Cindy Duckert — Help your kids acquire this invaluable skill so they can address small groups, larger gatherings, or perhaps a national television audience in connection with their work, a cause they believe in, or something for fun. Studying presentations by others, learning basic techniques, and gaining experience in a supportive environment.

F-4 Ten Sure Fire Ways to Help Kids Learn — Susan Kaseman — Taking advantage of opportunities homeschooling offers. Listening to kids and involving them in the planning. Creating an environment that encourages learning. Doing unit studies. Increasing their confidence (and yours).

F-5 An In — Depth Look at Socialization — Lisa Rivero — Move beyond "What about socialization?" New ways to think about social opportunities homeschooling offers. What are the goals of social education? Are those goals the same for everyone? How can we encourage children to know and to be themselves while at the same time helping them to be comfortable around others? How does social education happen within families? Is having a "best friend" necessary for social growth and happiness?

F-6 How to Begin Homeschooling — Tomi Fay Forbes — Choosing an approach and planning your homeschool. Complying with the law, including filling out the required form PI-1206 to send to the DPI.

F-7 Unplug and Tune In To Your Family — Annetta Kraayeveld — Why family time matters. Obstacles to family time, such as the pace of modern life, technology, and pressures to earn money. Ways to ensure time together, including setting limits, choosing priorities, and saying "No" when necessary. Enlisting the cooperation of the whole family.

F-8 What to Say About Homeschooling — Larry Kaseman — How can we diplomatically explain to friends, relatives, officials, and the media what makes homeschooling special and powerful? How can we be effective ambassadors for homeschooling while responding to criticism, misunderstanding, and deliberate misrepresentation?

F-9 Finding Nontraditional Paths to Careers — Erich Moraine — A presentation followed by a discussion. Taking advantage of the opportunities homeschooling offers to explore various types of work through job shadowing, volunteer work, part — time work, developing a network of contacts, etc. Ways to develop credentials and gain experience in addition to or instead of college. Exploring self — employment and running your own business.

F-10 Teen Activities — Megan Kaseman — Join a group of homeschooling teens for icebreakers and other games and informal conversation. An adult coordinator will be present.

F-11 Artists' Trading Cards (ATC)-Dawn Petersen — Connect and share your art with others! Craft ATCs, works of art sized 2.5" by 3.5" that you may trade with others. You may also bring finished cards to exchange. We will also make "Jam" cards. For artists of all ages; young artists must come with a helper.

F-12 Cake Decorating 101-Maria Kuehmichel — Learn to decorate your own 6" mini cake using baker's tools. Participants will display their cakes in CONNECTIONS before taking them home. Bring $3 to cover the cost of materials. Suggested for ages 8-12. Limited to 8 youth.

F-13 Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with Skippyjon Jones — Apple Blossom Books!-A storytelling workshop featuring YOU as one of Skippyjon's infamous chihuahua amigos. Engaging activities that invite you to experience some of Skippyjon's memorable adventures. Enjoyed by children 10 and under. Limit 40 youth.

F-14 Sculptures from the Woodshop Floor — Tonya Laurent — Use sawdust and glue to create some sticky art! Your creations will dry and be on display in CONNECTIONS until you take them home. Bring an old shirt or apron and your imagination.

F-15 Visit CONNECTIONS and/or the Curriculum Fair — Learn, play, discover, and share. Shop for curriculums and resources. Talk with exhibitors. Enter drawings for Shop and Win Prizes. Also A-21 B-21 C-21 and D-21
